Hampton Public Library Project Donation Challenge

Hampton Business Owner, Belen Krabbe, has challenged members of the community to step forward to contribute donations to the City of Hampton for the reconstruction of the curved wall at the library. For every $10,000.00 donated by the community, Krabbe will donate $1,000.00. If the community donates $100,000.00, Krabbe will donate $10,000.00 which would result in a grand total of $110,000.00 donated to the library wall project through this challenge. 

Donations should be made payable to the City of Hampton with a memo of "library project" and can be dropped off at city hall.  

HAPPY - Fundraiser By Hampton Kiwanis For HArriman Playground Park For Youth

Kiwanis Club of Hampton is seeking donations for a community betterment project to replace the playground equipment in Harriman Park.

The Make a Splash! Campaign for the Hampton Aquatic Center offers the opportunity for individual, organization, business and/or corporate financial contributions to the funds established to offset costs in the construction of a new aquatic center, which replaced the former Hampton Municipal Pool.

Total reflects the Vision Iowa CAT Grant awarded on October 13, 2010 ($100,000 designated to the Aquatic Ctr Project - Funds pending grant compliance by County & City), as well as a grant awarded to the project from the Union Pacific Foundation in the amount of $20,000 (Received 05/05/11).

Recent Projects In Hampton, Iowa!

The City of Hampton has been progressive in making significant upgrades and improvements to public points of interest, which have included a new Aquatic Center, Progress Park improvements to the Playground, Tennis Courts, Basketball Court and Skate Park, Rolling Prairie Trail (a shared effort with Franklin County Conservation) and the Hampton Cemetery Fence Restoration.

Progress Park Improvements & Trail Project

The City of Hampton completed several improvements to Progress Park in 2011 & 2012 (new Aquatic Center, Playground Equipment, Tennis Courts, Basketball Court, Sand Volleyball, Skate Park and linked the park to the newly developed bike/walking Rolling Prairie Trail. MAKE A SPLASH! Donation Challenge

Hampton High and Hampton-Dumont School Alums and current classes have donated and are challenging other graduating classes to donate funds to the Make A Splash! Campaign. The following classes are currently represented with enough donated to their respective class contribution to be eligible for an engraved landscaping paver: HHS Classes of '65, '68, '70, '76 & '80. Hampton-Dumont Classes of '90, '11, '12, '13, '14, '15, '16, '17, '18, '19, '20, '21, '22 & '23.

Make A Splash! Awarded $20K By Union Pacific Foundation

Union Pacific Foundation representative, Brenda Mainwaring, presented a $20,000 award to the Make A Splash! Campaign on May 5th.

The City of Hampton submitted an application for this UP Foundation community betterment grant in 2010. The support and endorsement of corporate sponsors such as this play an important role in the success of this financial campaign, and we are so grateful that the Make A Splash! Campaign was selected as one of the 2011 recipients. THANK YOU!


With community interest in restoring the Hampton Cemetery fence, which was removed during the 2010-11 Highway 65 Improvement Project, the Hampton City Council on October 26, 2011, approved designating 1/3 of the estimated cost, up to $10,000, of City funds towards the renovation plan. The Mayor appointed a community fund raising committee to assist with the balance of expenses associated in the renovation and installation of the fence. Progress of the funding status may be monitored in the "Announcements" section of this website.

On Tuesday, June 22, 2010, the Hampton City Council unanimously voted to proceed with the Band Shell renovation proposal presented by RDG Planning & Design of Des Moines, Iowa. The "Put the Band Back in the Band Shell" fund raising efforts were VERY successful, allowing the renovation project to proceed.

On October 11-12, 2010, The Veit Group of Rogers, MN, began the stage stabilization process, after local contractors installed the necessary electrical & plumbing upgrades and prep. Click "More Info" to see photos.

Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Hampton Aquatic Center was held on Monday, June 14, 2010.

Construction was carried out by lead contractor, Christiansen Construction Company, LLC, of Pender, Nebraska.
