HAMPTON DOG LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

ANNUAL LICENSE REQUIRED:

Owners of a DOG over the age of six (6) months shall acquire a pet license at City Hall. A veterinarian’s certificate of current Rabies Vaccination must be furnished at the time of licensing. Owner’s signature will be required on the City’s licensing form.

FEES: Annual license fee is $8.00 per animal. License fee for neutered animals is $5.00 annually. Annual renewal of a pet license is the responsibility of the owner.

A numbered metal tag is issued by City Hall at the time of licensing, which should be attached to the pet’s collar, along with vaccination tags. License tags are not transferable to other animals.

LAWN CARE REQUIREMENTS

Property owners are responsible for lawn maintenance of their properties, including their own residence, rentals (occupied or vacant), commercial lots, as well as vacant lots; keeping height of weeds and grasses at or below six inches. The City will routinely monitor the city limits for violations of this lawn maintenance standards and cite property owners with a Notice to Abate Nuisance via standard mail, allowing five days from the notice date to comply. Non-compliance will result in the City assigning the abatement to a contractor and bill the property owner for the expense, plus 35% administrative costs. See attached link for more details of the City's procedures in helping to keep lawn maintenance standards enforced. Thank you for your cooperation! If you wish to have your name provided to the public for inquiries for lawn services, contact City Hall to be added to the list of contractors. Those interested in bidding on cited properties should watch for postings at the front entrance of City Hall.
